Mediators are highly trained professionals who have undergone specialized training in family mediation and divorce procedure. Mediators are knowledgeable in the financial, legal, emotional, and practical aspects of separation and divorce.

Fees
There is no retainer. Moderate fees are based on hourly rates and are payable after each session. The couple usually shares the payment equally. At completion, there is an additional moderate charge for the preparation of the Memorandum of Understanding. Referrals can be given to you for an attorney who, for a moderate fee, can prepare and process the legal papers.
Experience has shown that the financial cost of mediation is much less than that of the traditional adversarial process. Equally important, the emotional cost is also greatly minimized.

Director
Dr. Emanuel Plesent, Ed.D., R-C.S.W., B.C.D., has had over 25 years of experience as a separation and divorce mediator. He also has had many years of extensive experience as a therapist working with couples and families.
He has received Accreditation in Divorce Mediation from the New York State Council on Divorce Mediation (fewer than three dozen mediators have achieved this status). Dr. Plesent is a Practitioner Member of the Association For Conflict Resolution and an Associate Member of the American Bar Association.
Dr. Plesent is also licensed in New York State as a Certified Social Worker and as a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work.
